Raising Axolotls: The Forever Larva

Axolotls are unique because they remain in their larval stage their whole lives. They have amazing regenerative abilities but are sensitive to water flow and temperature. If the water gets too warm, they get stressed and can die. They also have a habit of swallowing gravel and impacting their stomachs. A bare-bottom tank with a chiller is the only safe way to keep these smiling amphibians.
